STORY OVERVIEW:
Vex has hitched a ride with Tadka who is tracking a tracking device he implanted on Toggle so they can find Ash. Tadka is only concerned about getting Toggle back and doesn’t see the bigger picture at hand as Vex is using him. At the same time back in Prospektor the villagers are trying to revolt against Mayor Nix. Nix and his men have taken Loloi hostage, and this draws Ash’s attention. First Ash sets Toggle loose on the men, before ending Nix’s regime himself. This is when he tells the whole town that Bataar is a liar and that the hero who delivered them freedom from the Cinder is him. But he doesn’t want tributes, he wants everyone to live their lives and that’s how you honor him. The Villager’s now look at Ash as a hero, and the children have started to call him by a name that is picking up favor, Ghost Pepper. But, Vex has arrived in Prospektor and has Ash very much in her sights.
WRITING:
This issue picks up the pace from last issue and starts to get this new story arc in motion. Ludo Lullabi does a great job of moving the story forward and even creating a bit of suspense with Vex’s stalking of Ash. The overthrowing of Prospektor and Ash’s subsequent speech about Bataar lying and Ash wanting people to just thrive and nothing else, shows the dicatomy between the false prophet and the real one. The message is easy to pick up on and even easier to digest. My only real issue with this book is that once again the story seems to be slowing down in parts of the issue, which is making part of the issue feel like filler. This is not a huge issue, but something that needs to be brought up to be fair and call it down the middle.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue excels at capturing the energy of the story’s unfolding events. Ludo Lullabi infuses every page with impressive detail and creativity, drawing readers into a lively and believable world. Characters are crafted with care, each featuring imaginative traits that reveal their individual personalities and roles. The sweeping backgrounds add a grand sense of scale and adventure, which enhances the comic’s epic atmosphere. In addition, Adriano Lucas’s color palette brings greater depth and emotion to every scene, enriching the visuals. Together, Lullabi and Lucas form a talented art team whose combined efforts consistently produce memorable, high-quality visuals that raise the bar for the entire comic.
