*** spoiler free reminder ***

The Windoms drifts around various themes before slamming the pedal down and not looking back. Dev’s beginning teases much mystery while establishing the young girl’s current stat quo. The writing plants enough conflict in the early pages before switching gears into a more wholesome moment. Moving across the world to Japan is a challenge enough. Dealing with school and finding new ways to be entertained is a whole other deal. Luckily, this doesn’t take too long to be swept up with.

Readers watch as the story takes a surprise turn as a chance encounter leads into so much more. It is deceptive in nature but once this portion revs up, it’s an instant hook. This leads into more action as the pacing really picks up. It serves a small taste of what to expect from the series. Certain new faces will add much energy to an already booming tale. The Windoms craft a great finish with more intrigue looming in the air. It will be very difficult to put this story down after just one lap.

MORE DEBUTS FROM IMAGE COMICS!

Lee and Chung embrace the fast-moving story with ease. The visuals they created pop off each page. They hone on Dev’s ever-changing reactions. Readers start seeing the panel structure often evolve into a new perspective on Dev’s daily life. Her expressions tell a few varying sides. All of which can agree on one premise: There is a void in her soul that can’t be ignored. As her journey leads her into making a friend reluctantly, this winds up being the sign she was looking for all along.

Pages hit a day and night difference in vibe and coloring at this stage. Chung’s work in this moment can’t be denied. It sets a new path forward with no turning back. Readers will be blown away by the action happening here. Lee’s work encompasses Dev’s growing enjoyment of what she is finding. This spins into a solid finish but not without one more incredible piece of art to admire. Suffice to say, Lee is taking this visual experience up a few levels few will come near!

FINAL GRADE: 9

A new tale of danger and deception speeds into the comic shops with this electric debut. The Windoms’ writing weave many factors into the evolving drama. Lee and Chung construct phenomenal artwork as this new world comes alive at each turn. Readers had better buckle up for the high-octane thrills coming their way!
