*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Starks just doesn’t miss with this series. Leona’s “discussion” with Eddie goes extremely sideways as one may expect. The writing lets loose on her rage with her child being kidnapped. It pushes Eddie’s witlessness to new levels. Readers watch as things go from bad to worse. With Smiley ready to kill Trent, the mood goes drastically dire. Smiley comes off as an emotional roller coaster in his own right. His dialogue is manic as he tries figuring out the next move. It matches Leonas intensity as she rips into Eddie to get her son back.
Readers watch as Eddie’s search leads him into more informants with way too much details to share. The humor in this series is always a joy to read. It offsets the never breaking drama with his father. Their conversation opens up deep wounds as their relationship has always been fragile at best. It also has some gruff humor weaved between the lines. This leads into the wild confrontation with Smiley. Eddie’s attempt is as uneven as he can only deliver. Luck stands by his side as to the resolution. It leads into a strong closing that will be interesting to see play out. Always an exciting read.

Pugh & O'Halloran open Leona ripping Eddie a new one for Trent’s kidnapping. There’s never a panel where her anger subsides. It counters Smiley’s uneven panic. Panels never the pacing slow down for the frustration to simmer. It gives a solid spin into Eddie’s search for clues. The breakdown of Smiley’s hidden lair is met with an uncomfortable feel mixed with adult laughs. It’s a great segway piece to get Eddie on his way. A full shot shows his running into his fathers house after last issue’s confrontation.
George’ clean-up scenes go to new levels with the addition of Brillo. The comedic timing in these panels are so good. It offsets George’s anger in Eddie. Readers watch as he lets loose on his son. This moves events to the closing stand-off. Panels are wide to capture the tense back and forth. Eddie’s dense reactions throw Smiley’s scowl off his game. The only one having fun in this sequence is Trent. His youthful blindness shines as the bullets start flying. Speaking of which, Eddie’s “new powers” are hilarious when he says them. Once the truth is revealed, a full page shot shows the true power force. It moves events to a solid finish and intriguing final stop. The full page image throws off readers unsure of where we go next.
FINAL GRADE: 9.6
Eddie attempts to be a reluctant hero as Trent is kidnapped in another phenomenal issue. Starks unloads the deep rooted feelings in-between the adult humor. Pugh & O'Halloran bring the insanity of Eddie’s world to spectacular life. There is no good reason End Of Life shouldn’t be in your collection.
