STORY OVERVIEW:
We start off by being introduced to the Twins, who are also lovers. In the past they even killed their own mother because she wanted to keep them apart. When Leon, who has been their protector for their entire lives, makes them an offer for an alliance with Kerr, they become intrigued. Unfortunately for them, Kerr isn’t the one waiting for them. Meanwhile, the rest of the siblings are trying to find the heir Elsa, so they can either win favor with their father or get the upper hand on him.
WRITING:
This issue really highlights how truly messed up and eclectic this family is. Brian Buccellato does a magnificent job of showing the reader the family dynamic and how the relationships between the siblings sets the table for where we are going. The action beats and the main fight sequence is done very well, and highlights the emotion, specifically anger of the father. As this series advances it continually ups the ante and pushes the envelope.
ARTWORK:
The artwork in this issue stands out for its modern vibe. Mattia Monaco excels at creating a vivid setting and gives each family member a distinct look. The color choices enhance the visuals, guiding the reader’s attention across every panel. The art matches the quality of the story, resulting in an outstanding combination for this issue. As the cherry on top, the violence of the fight scene is really brought to life and makes the reader feel like they are a part of it.
Final Thoughts:
Eat Your Young #4 is a crazy but fun issue in this tremendous series. It has all of the family drama we’ve come to expect, well delivering some crazy relations and some kick ass violence. If you are looking for a crazy and unique action book, this is a must pick up at the shop this week.
