DNX #2 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 2nd issue of DNX!
DNX is the latest event story taking place in the Marvel Comics Universe! The X-Men and Fantastic Four are taking center stage for this story and they have to stop the villainous terrorist group 3K from unleashing the dreaded X-Virus and changing the world forever! Let’s jump into it!

The Story
Jed MacKay does a fantastic job in this issue continuing to raise the stakes in a gradual way that really makes the story enjoyable. He really could go for broke and mash the gas pedal, ratcheting up the tension in a quick way that left everything else by the way side. The story is laid out really as a great continuation from the 1st issue and leaves you very excited for what’s sure to follow in the 3rd issue.
The Charimen’s ongoing plot to change the entire human (the non-Mutant portion) continues to get presented in a very compelling way that feels different from other villains world changing schemes. His dialogue with Scott Summers is particularly intriguing, especially given Scott’s history of where he stands morally.
The story is a little bit of a slow burn, but that’s fine and doesn’t hurt it at all. There are after all 3 ongoing events in Marvel right now. So to take things at a decent pace right now is a great thing for the series. Queen In Black is wrapping up this week, and Armageddon is in the midst of it’s story. So to slowly build things up to what’s sure to be an explosive climax and an even more explosive finale makes all the sense right now.
The Artwork
Federico Vincentini & David Curiel are in charge of the artwork for the issue and it is truly some spectacular work done by the pair in this issue. The action in the issue is jampacked from start to finish and they both do a fantastic job giving each panel the space it needs to help tell the story. Their art really compliments the story in a every way possible and does a great job bringing the chaos to life across the pages that’s taking place in the story. It also balances out with the silent moments amidst the battles in a very beautiful way that give it a cinematic feel that work really well.
Overall Grade: 8/10
A great follow up in issue #2 continues a really compelling story from Jed MacKay. Together with incredible artwork, this is an issue well worth your time to read.
