WRITING:
Taylor picks directly up where Batman #13 left off. Batman’s confrontation with Savage at the GCPD is every bit as tense as one would expect. Their conversation shows no give as Batman tries reasoning with the madman. Readers get a quick break to update on why Savage’s plan is faulty. This moves into more drastic actions. Savage’s “survival of the fittest” mantra fuels his motivations. Unfortunately for him, Batman doesn’t let that fly in his city.
The writing shows how far the Dark Knight is willing to go for his cause. It provides an enjoyable finish to the confrontation. Taylor throws in some sly monologue lines to move onto the main event. Pacing speeds up to reflect the frantic timeframe Bats has to work with. Each page raises more anxiousness as he fights his way through TUCO (Savage’s law enforcers). This builds up to a honorable failing point for the Dark Knight. What transpires after is where readers can invest in. The writing shows how one simple act gives a small sliver of hope on rebounding. A solid parting conversation leads into the next dangerous path for Batman to walk. Readers should be very pleased with this chapter.

ART & LETTERING:
Spokes steps in for art duties on this round. The subtle opening page with the green taking Gotham establishes the danger early. This carries into Savage and Batman’s confrontation. Their expressions don’t break as they argue their sides of the problem. This leads to a strong half panel of Batman advancing. Savage’s arrogance shines as he waits for the attack. The encounter ends with a wild series of panels as Savage is taken down to a grounded level.
Readers watch as the attention moves to the skies for the next round. A fantastic split page transition Batman’s moves to the aerial assault waiting to happen. The onboarding of the first blimp sets a great pace. Spokes sneaks in a quick smile as Batman delivers a punch line. This escalates matters as the action panels begin. Abbott’s “time clock” lettering raises the pressure as Batman struggles to win. A sound half panel shows Bat’s forced ejection in the Gotham Sky. Once he hits ground, another great half panel provides a turning point into events. It opens the door for a dramatic half panel to open the closing act. A magnificent final full page slams the door on this chapter while bracing for the next to begin.
Dan Watters, Scott Hepburn, Scott Hepburn & Wes Abbott provide a solid back-up story centering around the “Lego Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight: Deluxe Edition”. Great writing and stellar art makes this an eye-catching experience with a new rogue making waves.

Batman takes to the skies to save his city in a thrilling addition to “Bad Seeds”! Taylor throws a daring rescue attempt in Bat’s direction with great success. Spokes jumps in and keeps the excitement running high all issue long. In Gotham’s darkest hour, Batman is still bringing the fight in its’ honor.
