*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Fleecs gives readers the payoff they’ve been waiting for but not without a scenic route to get there. The opening shows Slade taking a dark web contract for money. As he states, this isn’t his usual gig. The job leads into a more personal look at his complicated relationship with his ex wife Adeline. Their talk is brewing with frustration as Slade’s code overseeds his family in this instance. Ultimately, the job takes hold in the present but not without complications.
Readers watch as the new Deathstroke discusses plans with Deathblow and Deadshot. It is business cold in delivery as they work out the next front to take out Slade. Having a huge bargaining chip in their possession looks to work wonders. This pushes forth to the explosive closing act. It doesn’t take long before bullets start flying as the killers go to work. This is nothing more than pure adrenaline filled action from here. It leads into a shocking final sequence. The question everyone’s been asking is revealed with more venom behind it. Great cliffhanger to finish on as suspense floods the page.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!
Di Giandomenico & Plascencia do a cold opening as Slade approaches his latest client. The full shot of him in the parking garage is classic in his own status. Never one for a spotlight, Slade’s reaction to the job is very blunt. This transitions nicely into the flashbacks with Adeline. Panels fill with resentment as she tries talking to Slade about family duties. Once events come back to present, it hits the ground running with the series’ trademarked action.
The new Deathstroke deliberates to the allies about next moves. There is very little emotion shown here as all parties know the ways of this business. It speeds up to Slade’s latest job. His cover is blown with a near full panel of his opps. From here, readers watch as the bullets fly fast. There’s plenty of frantic action filling the panels. Once the smoke clears, a full image shows this series’ largest secret. It is complemented by an even louder final full page. Excellent work bringing the heat with this drama.
FINAL GRADE: 9.2
The new Deathstroke is revealed and Slade can’t believe it in this intense chapter! Fleecs pulls at all the emotions for this chapter. Di Giandomenico & Plascencia never hesitate to go all in on action pages. Brace for impact with that final sequence reveal!
