*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Phillips pens a deceptive tale in looking at the Omen’s impact. The opening pages take in Detective forte’s instant reaction to what’s happened. It’s reflective of Foggy’s worry of Matt. The Omen’s actions have rattled many parties. Daredevil’s conversation with Forte is calm with some zing added when needed. Readers watch as their banter exposes much of the killer and clues in on a possible lead.
This sets up the confrontation with relative ease. Adding in Foggy’s comments while Matt races to the scene amplifies the desperate attempt to beat Omen to the location. Once here, the action rolls out with changes form last encounter. It steers their dialogue into a cryptic phase. Omen’s words of the future teases more pain to follow. Matt’s comprehension of this information is upended by another factor in play. The fallout ends matter with more questions looming. It especially hits when Matt sees Foggy. Their words carry much weight in repairing some bridges. The epilogue teases much more evolving from this very strong opening arc.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!
Garbett and Martin open with a nine grid page of Foggy’s return to NYC. Detective Forte’s look of shock takes hold of the early pages. It’s met with a near full shot of Daredevil lurking overhead. The shadowy full page shot excels the interrogation of events. Readers see Daredevil keep a stiff poker face as the worry eats at him inside. The full page exit from the warehouse leads to more trouble as the Omen hunts Foggy.
Their fight goes heavy as a full page shows the swift brutality take over. Each blow is thrown with bad intentions. It breaks away to let the Omen give a somewhat origin of his own. This full page sequence teases greatly as Daredevil tries cracking the code. The fights end comes abruptly as another event transpires via full shot. It leads to a more level state as Foggy catches up with Matt. Their expressions speak loudly as there’s some ground to cover. The epilogue is brief but effective in conveying much more is yet to come. Can’t ask for much more than that!
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
Daredevil faces off with the Omen as Foggy’s life hangs in the balance. Phillips pushes Matt to his limits with a superb script. Garbett and Martin elevate the fighting to new levels with bold art. Matt Murdock has been born again with an incredible creative team leading the way.
