*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
Phillips puts Matt Murdock into an uncomfortable position: asking for help. The initial time with Spidey tries re-aligning his senses. His inner monologue shows how fractured its’ become. The writing also throws in some great quips as the pair gets to work. Readers also watch the Omen claim another victim. His chilling decree ushers in a peculiar point in the story. Instead of being a potential victim, Matt Murdock now becomes a suspect.
Detective Forte and Callahan’s investigation leads them right to Murdock. The conversation is tense as the pressure is applied. Phillips orchestrates this with relative ease as Murdock goes on the defensive. It conveys a solid volley of takes before finally closing on solid ground. This allows Daredevil to take the lead into the finish. A healthy does of action comes readers way as he tracks down Omen. This is presented in a very straight-forward manner until the final page. Readers get a swift curve thrown into the combustible mix. There will be some questions after this one.
READ LAST ISSUE’S REVIEW!
Garbett and Martin open with a great Spidey teaching sequence of panels. It results in a fun break form the weight of Omen’s terror. Readers get a fantastic full page of the heroes swinging through the NYC skyline. This crashes back to Earth when Omen claims its’ latest victim. The violent act is brought in grizzly fashion. It crafts a solid aftermath for the NYPD to pick up with.
Readers see the investigation play out in a very heavy fashion. Murdock’s “shock” balances out the detectives hard-lined stances. Panels never miss on setting up their chess match. Ben Urich makes a great appearance via two page arc. Seeing the old allies working together again will be a fan-favorite moment. This kickstarts Daredevil’s late discovery. Panels get a few full shots of DD swinging into action. Scenes are quick as the ending takes over. A full page image showcases a far more heinous discovery than expected. Solid work per usual for this series.
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
Matt Murdock….suspect? The Omen’s twisted murders come to Matt Murdock’s class in an excellent read. Phillips adds more depth to the case with a fun Spidey addition. Garbett and Martin make noise with the art for large moments. The latest mystery of Hell’s Kitchen doesn’t fail to impress/
