When a group of young kids come across magical weapons, their lives are turned upside down. They now have their destiny changed forever. The weapons represent the Knights of The Round Table. With Mordred looking to get those weapons, the kids are on the run. Marnie buys them time to escape. Merlin helps them escape to Camelot. Knowing his grandmother is in danger, Connor wants to go back and save her. Can they train fast enough to pull this off?

Taylor hits the ground running with Connor wanting to get his grandmother back. The writing brings out his frustration with what’s unfolding. It leads to a heart-to-heart with the other members. The pent-up emotions finally let out. This sense of comradery leads into their intense training. The dialogue covers aspects of humor and seriousness as they prepare. It results in a more focused squad with another task in front of them.
The interaction with the Green Knight leans into their destiny and other possibilities. One character struggles to see what is revealed, It is a jarring moment for a young child to process. Merlin’s banter helps appease the moment. This allows for the closing act to start moving. Even with some over-the-top moments, the stage is set for a long-awaited showdown. Taylor adds one more layer of personal conflict to the meeting. It leaves readers with a heightened interest to see who will win this contest of wills.

Di Nicuolo & Beredo open with Connor’s anger starting to fester. Knowing time is running out, his drive to help causes friction with the others. It melts away when a discussion is had with the group. Knowing their support is with him, the plan to train and rescue begins properly. The art mixes in some humorous moments while establishing the stakes involved with their newfound roles. It is capped off by an impressive two-page splash of the training in full swing.
This allows for the Green Knight to crash the party. A near full page image welcomes the presence into the story. A full page image of a statue of destiny takes hold. For one member, they dont appear there. The art capitalizes on the moment to build up some wonder as to where things lead from here. The closing pages present a unique visual of Fel walking around a very secure public place with her huge sword. It leads to a very solid last page. Panels break down the huge moments while dropping quite a bombshell in the last one. The art checks the boxes for this one.
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
Camelot’s finest are forced to grow up quick as Marine’s life is in peril. Taylor’s writing balances out the huge stakes with some optimistic humor. Di Nicuolo & Beredo’s art connects with readers on the magic and mortal ways of the new knights. A very strong last page sends readers home with much to ponder for the last arc installment. Don’t miss it.
