STORY OVERVIEW:
As the authorities and the citizens of Woodbrook finally catch on to Samantha’s evil ways, she has one more ace up her sleeve. Well Monica is tied up in a chair, Sam tips her hand and tells her the master plan. Basically, Sam has wired the whole town up with incendiary devices that she can remotely set off. This will cause a distraction as well as achieve even more death and destruction. Can the townspeople save themselves as well as their neighbors? And more importantly will they finally be able to stop and capture Samantha?
WRITING:
This is a perfect ending to an amazing sequel event! Patrick Horvath makes the already evil serial killer Samantha, into something even more evil. The calm she shows well destroying the town and killing a bunch of innocent folks is really unsettling. Horvath makes sure the reader knows she is the epitome of evil and has no admirable qualities. At the same time Horvath also shows us ultimate hope as the townspeople come together and help each other survive. The dichotomy between absolute evil and absolute good makes for a fantastic story finale. Oh, and of course there is a great tease for the continuation of this saga as well.
ARTWORK:
The artwork featured in this issue matches the high standards seen throughout the series, maintaining a style that perfectly suits the story. Patrick Horvath skillfully continues the storybook art approach here. This artistic choice makes the gruesome and bloody scenes feel even more disturbing and intense. The graphic detail and harshness of the killing moments are unsettling, which enhances the atmosphere of the story.

Final Thoughts:
Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rite of Spring #6 ends this arc in a fantastic and awesome way. The evilness that is shown by Samantha solidifies her as one of the greatest horror villains in comic book history. The storybook art makes the horror of the story much more chilling. This has been an awesome series, and this finale delivers and then some. Not only is this my Pick of the Week, but also an early nominee for issue, series, and arc of the year! Get a copy at the shop this week and keep your eyes out for the Trade when it drops as well.
