The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #4 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 4th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity from Marvel Comics!
The Spider-Heroes are undergoing some training to bring them up to snuff! And none other than Norman Osborn is the one leading the training! But is Norman being 100% honest about his training? Or is it all a ruse? Let’s jump into it!

The Story
Norman Osborn has taken it upon himself to train the other members of the Spider Family up to snuff when it comes to handling the villains on NYC incase Peter goes MIA again. On one hand, it makes sense as they haven’t exactly handled things with flying colors. On the other hand it’s being led by Norman Osborn and I maintain you cannot trust him!
Things start to come unraveled for the school when Spider-Girl starts making her way through the halls after she’s been possessed by none other than Carnage! From there the issue explodes to an all out battle to attempt to stop Carnage and save their friend. The issue really picks up the pace from the prior 3 issues and we’re starting to get some payoffs for the ongoing plot threads.
The issue really excels when it focuses on the younger members of the Spider family. There’s a roughness to them, and a sense that they aren’t as ready as Peter or Spider-Woman are, but that’s to be expected. There’s a sense that things are going to be okay, but not without a few bumps and bruises along the way.
Then there’s the matter of the ending, and I will NOT say anything about it. Once you read it, that might surprise you that I don’t but let me explain. I want to wait to see how this plays out before I take my victory lap. If I end up being right, I’ll shout it from the rooftops. Regardless, it’s setting up for a VERY interesting issue #5
The Artwork
Rafael Perez & Guru-eFX are in charge of the artwork for the issue and they did a spectacular job with it. You see a lot of the familiar look and style from Spider-Man comics that readers seasoned and lapsed will be familiar with, so it makes jumping in a breeze. I really liked the action sequences and how they’re able to use all of the Spider’s effectively and not have it feeling overwhelmed with too much going on. The artwork overall works really well in tandem with the story.
Overall Grade: 8/10
Joe Kelly & Jordan Morris continue the great story with another issue that ends on a wild twist I have been WAITING to see. Together with artwork that is simply stellar, this is an issue that Spider-Man fans will not want to pass up on.
