Sherman and Bellaire continue to amaze and astound with the visuals. The opening image with Circe and Aphrodite makes a bold statement to the gravity of the Goddess’ words. Panel structure takes these pages and give them a powerful feel. One image is subtle but jumps off the page. Seeing Aphrodite shed tears makes it known of how painful her choice was to make. This pivots to a more frantic moment involving the residents of Gateway City. A solid pause in the story before the action kicks in.

An incredible two page spread kicks off the fighting. Bellaire’s coloring takes the spotlight as the next pages highlight Zatanna’s play in the fight. Never lost is the emotional pull of the panels. It leads into a dire repercussion for Diana. Panels show the price paid which steers into a high risk to save events. Readers watch as the images cover many reactions. It elevates the superb script to new levels. Another two-page spread builds up the terrifying new threat with much anticipation. The final full page rings the bell for another grave challenge which puts everything in jeopardy. This series is very easy to rave about concerning the art.

FINAL GRADE: 9.6

The high cost of love might be too much for Diana and Zatanna to pay in another epic chapter of the Absolute Universe. Thompson drives home the painful choices made with an excellent script. Sherman and Bellaire craft absolutely incredible pages with the art. Few series can come close to the high quality on display with this series.
