X-Men United #6 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 6th issue of X-Men United from Marvel Comics!
Things at Graymatter Lane have been tumultuous to say the least. So could a malevolent spirit possibly bring them back together? Let’s jump into it!

The Story
Eve Ewing really told an interesting story in this issue with a story that felt like a classic X-Men story. A threat that brings the team together to overcome an enemy that isn’t exactly what they seem? Yep! Longtime fans of the X-Men series are sure to enjoy the issue but that’s about where the good ends.
The issue feels like another one that isn’t going to factor into the story later, and really isn’t going to come back up again in some sort of astounding revelation that will leave fans wanting more. In fact, we’re now 6 issues into this series and it really lacks any sort of direction or clue as to where things are headed. Now, by no means was I expecting some sort of huge villain to show up and really cause some sort of issue that would take 10 issues before the battle was over. But the series just seems to be telling a series of stories for the sake of telling stories.
Could there be some interesting stories coming up soon based on the ending? Sure. But don’t forget, the series brought in Captain America for a single issue. So we’ll see what happens with the ending of this issue. Some direction or hint as to where the series is going is sorely needed, because right now the series feels lost at sea.
The Artwork
The artwork in the issue by Tiago Palma, Eduardo Pansica, Oren Junior & Brian Reber is the standout highlight of the issue. The whole issue from start to finish is visually stunning. It’s definitely one of the most unique looking issues out this week, but considering the story it works really well.
Overall Grade: 6/10
As a singular issue, it’s fine. However as the 6th entry into the series it does nothing to draw readers attention to it in terms of an ongoing story or overarching threat. The artwork is great, but when the story is subpar it can only get you so far.
