The Story
Jed MacKay took this issue in a very different direction that I was not expecting for the issue. That’s not to say it’s a bad issue or that I didn’t like it, but rather it gave us an interesting perspective on things not involved with Philadelphia or 3K. It was a very good story and it was a blast to read it from start to finish, it also had a classic X-Men feel to it which was awesome.
The story focuses around John Greycrow at the Factory in Alaska. John has been left there by Psylocke to hold down the fort. What starts out as what might be seen as a simple housesitting job quickly does not stay that way. It quickly turns into a mixture of Home Alone meets Die Hard and it’s awesome from start to finish. If you like action adventure type stories this is the issue for you. If you like either of the films I mentioned, you love this issue.
There’s also the matter of the ending where a certain character shows up, and does a great job kick butt and then drops a little bit of tease for their future. It doesn’t seem like much now, but I’m sure it’s going to certainly play a factor in the near future.
The Artwork
Netho Diaz, Sean Parsons & Arthur Hesli are in charge of the artwork for this issue and they did a fantastic job with it. There’s a lot going on in the issue and each one of the panels are incredibly detailed and so crisply drawn. The action sequences particularly stood out to me with how amazing they were. Overall the artwork does a fantastic job elevating the story in a great way.
Overall Grade: 7/10
A solid issue that provides readers with a unique perspective during the ongoing DNX storyline. Jed MacKay story, together with artwork that is spectacular make this an issue you definitely need to check out.
