X-Men #37 (Marvel Comics)
Hello there! Padawan J here, the resident Star Wars expert from the ODPH! This week I'm going to be reviewing the 36th issue of X-Men from Marvel Comics!
This issue is a direct tie-in for what takes place in DNX #1, so I strongly advise you read that issue BEFORE you read this one. You won’t be totally spoiled on what happens, however you will be very confused as to what’s going on. Let’s jump into it!

The Story
This issue takes place during the events of DNX #1 and as I said before, I strongly reccommend that you read DNX before you read this one!
Jed MacKay pens what might be the most compelling story I’ve ever read in a comic in quite some time. While the X-Men are dealing with the ongoing battle in Philadelphia, Kid Omega is tasked with what might be an impossible task. Go toe to toe with none other than Cassandra Nova on the psychic field. The battle is intense and the stakes are high, but the most compelling part is the dialogue between the two. It truly is some of the best dialogue I’ve read between two characters this year. There’s so much said between the two and multiple layers that it might take you a couple of reads to full grasp what’s being said between the two.
The end of the issue is just as spectacular as the rest of the issue is, and really left me surprised with how it played out. I won’t spoil what happens, but I can promise you that you won’t see it coming. Honestly, I think this issue got me more excited for the rest of the DNX story than the first issue of DNX did. I get the feeling that Jed is going to take this story to some truly insane places that I’m sure we can’t even fathom yet.
The Artwork
Netho Diaz, Sean Parsons & Arthur Hesli are in charge of the artwork for this issue and holy cow they did a fantastic job. With as crazy as the story is, the artwork is just as insane (and I mean that in the best way possible). It’s stunning, vivid and truly pops off the page like nothing else you’ll see this week. There will be several pages you read that will leave you stunned with just what you’re looking at. If you buy a book just for the visuals alone, you can’t go wrong with this issue.
Overall Grade: 9/10
A great issue that is one of the best issues of the year. Jed MacKay pens an incredibly compelling issue that will make you want to re-read the issue again. Together with stunning artwork, this is an issue you can’t pass up on.
