The Story

Casey Gilly continues strong run this mini-series is on with another great entry. It hits a lot familiar points you’d expect from a Lara Croft story, and gives off a lot of familiar feelings for fans.

I really like the way the mystery keeps building with each issue while still staying mysterious and unknown in certain aspects. It feels like for every step or two that Lara and her friends make towards solving the mystery and catching the villain, that it continues to elude them by another three or four steps.

After recovering from the events of the last issue, we get into a little bit of backstory of what’s going on and it’s importance. It’s perfectly timed and I really enjoyed that part of the story. I’m a big fan of historical content (documentaries, tv shows, podcasts) and so any time I get to consume it, I’m a big fan of it.

The end of the story does turns up the dial on the suspense and intrigue. It’s only a 4 issue series, so definitely expect the finale to be a heck of a fight.

The Artwork

Antonio Di Caprio & Eren Angiolini continue their stellar job with the art in the issue and continued to help give it a look and feel fans are familiar with. The artwork really excelled when it comes to the exploration sequences in the latter half of the issue, and really stands out as some of the best work in the series. It does such a great job at setting the mood and the tone in a way that ratchets up the tension and anticipation. If you’re a long time fan of the series then you’re sure to love the artwork.

FINAL POINT: Casey Gilly continues the great start of the series with a story that’s full of intrigue and anticipation. It’s a gripping tale that is full of heart, and excitement that is sure to keep you wanting more right up to the very end. Together with fantastic artwork from Antonio & Eren, this is a series that continues to impress with how awesome it is!

Overall Grade: 7/10
