STORY OVERVIEW:
Lynx-O, Pumyra, and Neko are on the trail of Scorpius and where he’s taken Ligon. Meanwhile, Scorpius is torturing Ligon for information on why the Cat’s have returned to Third Earth. He explains that this is not the first time that the Thunderians have shown up on this planet, and every other time they have just used the planet and its inhabitants for their own gain. Ligon doesn’t believe Scorpius and continues to fight for his life. Will the Thundercats get there in time, and even if they do, will it be too late for them all?
WRITING:
In this issue, the Lost Team faces escalating challenges, transitioning from one difficult situation to another. Ed Brisson skillfully maintains suspense, while the continuous action and persistent threat posed by Scropius contribute valuable complexity to the narrative. The revelations about a history that the Cats know nothing of is a great twist that sets up where this universe is going.
ARTWORK:
The artwork shown in this issue is outstanding, perfectly reflecting the story’s energetic tone. Elton Thomasi excels at illustrating the action, vividly expressing the challenges faced by the Cats. Through meticulous attention to detail, Thomasi clarifies the story’s vision and makes each scene come alive. The use of color and lettering further strengthens the art, powerfully communicating emotion to the audience.
Final Thoughts:
ThunderCats: Lost #9 sets the table perfectly for where this universe is going. The drama of truths that our heroes knew nothing of really makes for some tense situations in the issue. It can be a difficult task to bridge a gap in a story, but this issue does that masterfully. This series and universe are one of the best on the shelves and if you haven’t been reading it, it may be time for you to give it a chance.
