STORY OVERVIEW:

Mr. Peabody and Popeye are turning the screws on Marco as he was the one responsible for Betty and Miss Payne’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Cliff, Goose, and TinTin are searching this mysterious and dangerous island in search of the missing ladies. Unfortunately for Betty and Miss Payne they were captured by a native tribe and tied up as an offering to their king, Kong. Cliff, now suited up as the Rocketeer tries to save both ladies, but Kong makes off with Betty. As he gives chase he comes across an ally that he never thought he’d find on this island.

WRITING:

This issue continues the adventure well also adding even more surprises. John Layman takes the reader on a heck of a ride that keeps twisting and turning. The emergence of Kong and his interaction with Betty is a homage to the legendary story that the king is based on. Cliff shows his prowess as he swoops in to save Betty and Miss Payne to only be thwarted by Kong. However, Layman saves his biggest surprise of this issue until the end. Introducing an ally who we didn’t know would be there. This ally ties the story together and adds a bit more intrigue going into the final issue of the series.

ARTWORK:

The artwork blends a classic comic-book feel with a polished modern style. Jacob Edgar brings the world to life and captures the story’s period effectively. The Rocketeer’s design is especially striking and clearly reflects the character’s identity. This balance of vintage-inspired visuals and contemporary touches gives the book a distinct look. K.J. Díaz enhances the art with a vibrant color palette that is easy on the eyes. Together, the creative team delivers visuals that keep the reader fully engaged.
