STORY OVERVIEW:
The fight between Jigsaw and the Punisher is upon us and the carnage is real! Jigsaw slices Frank up with a scalpel that was dipped in a nerve agent. As the nerve agent starts to paralyze Frank, Jigsaw reveals his true intentions. He has figured out people’s faces hold power and Frank’s holds even more power. He wants to take Frank’s face and be a creepy cosplay of the Punisher. Little does he know a freshly escaped Tombstone is on his way to the party. How will this brawl end and can Frank keep his face when it’s over?
WRITING:
This issue gives us a great final battle between the Punisher and Jigsaw. Ben Percy really takes us into the depraved mind of Jigsaw and his sadistic plans. Seeing those plans being executed and just how far he will go to accomplish his mission is truly disturbing. Meanwhile, seeing the Punisher fighting from underneath and just for his survival makes you feel more for his struggle. Percy humanizes Frank which makes the us relate to him better. This dramatic draw is what builds up the suspense of the fight and the predicament he finds himself in. The drama Percy brings to this run is what truly sets it apart from other Punisher runs from the past.
ARTWORK:
The artwork lands with the same force as the story. José Luis Soares and Sergio Fernández Dávila capture the issue’s brutality and chaos with sharp precision, putting every grisly detail directly on the page. This is mature-reader territory and not for the faint of heart. It is classic Punisher, and this run has already delivered on both story and art.
