Ram V throws Burroughs into the deep end with his brash move. The writing shows his inexperience with his actions. It causes quite the domino effect in how to resolve events. This is where another character starts revealing more of the true nature of the group. This is hidden behind the dealings of Romeo. His interactions at the funeral with Director Warren show the cold calculated moves he uses. The conversation leads into a few directions before circling back to Burroughs’ troubles.
Once here, a drastic rescue is put into motion. This revolves around Burroughs’ discovery of more secrets. The writing amps up the tension to a breakable point. Even with a strong confrontation, there’s never a moment where the guard is let down indicating a win. Readers watch as a wild card is thrown into play that changes direction. While ending the conflict, it comes with more mystery. This uneasiness carries through to the closing of the book. Ram V throws in one more great twists to complicate matters further before parting. What an exciting read!

Perkins and Spicer open up with a jagged panel structure to drive home the nightmare aesthetic. Burroughs full page walk into the wrong exit sets the tone for a dangerous course to follow. the funeral scenes with Romeo and Warren play a cold portrayal of their businesses. Neither show much emotion while searching the other for information. It gives a direct look into the espionage world without any apologies.
As events come back to Burroughs, a fantastic two page spread shows his jumps through the Sleeper’s mind. It lands in an awkward memory that causes grave chaos. There is a true horror feel unfolding in these panels. It comes to a standstill when the wild card is introduced. Panels never convey a true sense of victory as they move forward. The dirty side of the spy game is show unapologetically via a series of short panels. This theme keeps up as the journey to the final page pays off greatly. A chilling full page welcomes in new dangers and Burroughs life becomes vastly more complex in a blink of an eye.

Daniel Burroughs’ confrontation with the Sleeper spins a web of danger he can’t escape from. Ram V magnificently orchestrates events with an intense feel . Perkins and Spicer fire on all cylinders with the deadly spy work. The Black Tower continues to impress on every page! A breakout series you can’t afford to miss!
