The Story
You want to talk about an issue being perfectly timed with it’s release, this issue definitely belongs on that list. Reading this issue after watching the first two episodes of the Shadow Lord television series was such a treat I was not expecting in the slightest. While it’s not required to watch the episodes before you read this issue, I do highly recommend it!
Benjamin Percy continues the great start from the first issue strongly into this one. Percy captures a similar tone that the show has set up, and it feels like the issue fits in perfectly with the series and is shaping up to be a great companion piece to the se
If you’re a fan of Star Wars or crime drama’s this is going to be a series you’re sure to love. It has all the feelings of the great crime drama tv shows mixed in with that Star Wars aesthetic that you know and love. It’s also very interesting to read this series, that is a prequel to the television show knowing full well what is going to happen to some of the characters in this show. That is by no means a bad thing, but rather an interesting perspective on things that I feel adds some interesting depth to the characters.
The Artwork
Madibek Musabekov & Luis Guerrero continue their incredible job with the artwork in this issue. The sense of familiarity continues and so does the sense of foreboding you get while reading the issue. Also having now watched the show it’s incredible to see how well Madibek & Luis did in translating the characters from a 3D format to a 2D one. As far as artwork go, the work you see in this issue is some of the best you’ll see this week.
FINAL POINT: Benjamin Percy pens a great follow-up issue that is also a great companion piece to the episodes that released this week. If you’re a Star Wars fan or interested in Darth Maul, this is a series you cannot pass up on!
