The Story
The issue really stepped up the action in a big way that I really enjoyed. The issue picks up where the previous one left one and immediately hits the ground running. If you’re a fan of action packed stories than this is one you’re going to love. I’m still getting familiar with some of the characters, but from what I’ve seen and learned so far it really is a gripping read that is fun if you’re looking for a bit of Saturday morning cartoon nostalgia.
The doesn’t do anything too crazy to throw you off or wrong foot you, and it’s as solid a read as they come. If you’re a fan of the show or even the comic series, you’re going to love this issue. The real intriguing part is the little bit of teasing that goes on in the end. Given how interconnected things seem to be in the Energon Universe, it’ll be very interesting to see just how things develop.
The Artwork
Simon Parr is in charge of the artwork for the issue and I was again really impressed with their work. You continue to get that sense of a cartoon from the 1980’s but done with a modern flair. The action sequences are impeccably drawn and really give you a sense of thrill and adrenaline like you’re watching an action movie at home. It really does a great job to compliment the story so well.
Overall Grade: 7/10
A great issue that is easily accessible for any reader. Dan Watters pens a fantastic story that continues to feel right out of a Saturday morning, that is complimented wonderfully by artwork that matches the nostalgia.
