STORY OVERVIEW:
Knight now knowing the truth about Zero and his manipulation of both realities is making his move. He bursts into Zero’s office and takes him to task and even lets Keylee know that in the other world Zero murdered her to find out if that would murder Knight in this world. This drives a wedge between the lovers, but that’s the least of Zero’s problems. The Knight starts to break Zero’s bones and makes him suffer when Zero reveals his contingency plan. He has set up for both worlds to be destroyed, and Knight can only save one. He has a tough decision on his hands and the fate of one or both worlds are in the balance.
WRITING:
This a such a wild and crazy finish to a wild and crazy mini-series. Matt Kindt takes the normal hero tropes and turns them way up and makes them crazier. The way Kindt shows the full anger of Knight and his ruthless confrontation with Zero lets the reader know that the lines have been blurred. But as a good villain would, there is a backup plan to presumably save his ass. But Kindt even turns that and doesn’t follow the normal trope with that either. The way Kindt snubs the norms to put the reader in uncharted territory makes this series and finale special. The drama, emotions, action, and psychology are on full display in this one. This finale, much like the rest of the series, keeps the reader on their toes and doesn’t disappoint.
ARTWORK:
Though the story offers originality, it’s the artwork that truly sets it apart. David Lapham brings this unusual world to life through his unique style, adapting slightly different artistic techniques for every reality to highlight their separation and keep readers guessing about what’s real. This issue features more intense and edgy illustrations, adding a fresh dimension to the visuals. To further enhance the narrative, Josh Reed uses lettering that changes between realities, underscoring their differences. Rather than confusing the audience, these variations actually make it easier to distinguish and follow each reality.

Final Thoughts:
Knight City #3 brings a bittersweet end to this unique and amazing story. The story hits you fast and hard and keeps you guessing what is real and how all of this is happening. The story and artwork are completely complimentary to each other and really bring this weird world to life. The only thing that sucks about this issue is that the story is over. Hopefully, we will return to this world in the future and get more insane stories. This is a series that if you have been following it, you are getting a fitting end that is satisfying. If you haven’t been reading this series, make sure to check for the TPB because you will want to grab that when it drops.
FINAL GRADE: 9.5/10
