*** POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING ***
The Story
Michael Moreci continues to do a fantastic job capturing the feel of an episode of The Bad Batch animated series. His ability to capture the feeling of an episode of that great television series really helped enhance how much I enjoyed the issue.
The story picks up on starport Borgo where we see our heroes making their way through the spaceport in plain clothes, all the meanwhile they’re still on the hunt for the missing scientist. It’s a great entry in the issue where we get to see our heroes in a behind enemy lines type of scenario that again feels like a new entry in the animated series.
There’s a sense of organized chaos stretching throughout the issue that helps pull you along in the story with an urgency to get to the end and find out what’s going to happen next. It all comes together in a brilliant style that has me excited to see where the next issue goes. Especially with the ending, because I did NOT see that reveal coming. It’s sure to be an interesting twist that will keep our heroes on their toes.
It should be interesting to see how this plays out, and I’m interested to see just how it develops. I loved the last Bad Batch story in the Hyperspace Stories series, and this one is starting off just as strongly as that one did. So I have high hopes for the series, and thus far it’s meeting those expectations.
The Artwork
Reese Hanningan, Elisabetta D’Amico & Michael Atiyeh all did a fantastic job with the art in the issue. Their ability at capturing the way the Bad Batch is simply spectacular and helps enhance the overall look & feel of the issue. The action sequences were also so impeccably drawn that it set a high standard for future issues.
FINAL POINT: Michael Moreci continues to capture the feeling of The Bad Batch animated series in a near perfect way, and together with artwork that continues to capture the look and feel in a way that fans will continue to enjoy.
Overall Grade: 8/10
