Taylor ties up loose ends while giving the trio closure on a dark time of their historic runs. The band aid is ripped off early concerning Arabella and her grandmother. Readers watch as their shock of realizing how much time was lost under Klep’s control. It gives their time a touch of horror before moving into handling the deep rooted scars of Prion’s death. Green Arrow’s dialogue is blunt but needed for the tough subject matter.
This also heightens the drama when Batman breaks down Arabella and her grandmother’s special abilities. It leaves more uneasiness to sift through before reconnecting on a game plan. Taylor works he gameplan out to near perfection. Pacing speeds up in this moment as the dialogue distracts the moves forming around Dr. Johns. Readers also see a great tip of the cap to the fallen hero. This ushers in a furious confrontation. Readers watch as the moment builds into a dramatic finish. Taylor completes the journey in the only way it could: a hero’s rebirth. The epilogue is bittersweet but a reminder to the audience to keep their choice open to fly. Excellent finish.

Janín showcases the looks of fear in Arabella and her grandmother’s faces gripping what’s happened. Batman and Green Arrow’s tough looks try not showing emotion. It is a difficult task as they know what weight is carried here. Black Canary’s empathy can’t be denied in these panels either. This allows Batman to give his findings to the group. The art locks in on the eyes during this debriefing. It sets the tone for this portion before switching gears into what’s next.
Panels show how the Reynoso family attempts to get justice. A superb half panel shows the heroes arriving in new costumes. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser as the action revs its’ engines up. Watching the chaos ensue, readers see a full shot of the heroes approaching their target. While subtle, it catches the eye for a solid distraction. This allows the final face-off to have more gravity in their encounter. Janín does a solid job building the suspense with panels for this. The fallout drops one more great hero walk off to occur before the epilogue. A reflective glance of the heroes allows some ghosts to finally be dealt with leading into the closing page. The parting panel is perfect to close the door on this chapter with as a hero’s legacy lives on.

Batman and company embarks on a plan for justice and closure in this excellent arc finale! Taylor’s writing reveals many hidden gems while bringing down the house. Janín brings out the inner turmoil of guilt, speeding into strong finishing pages. Time and time again, Detective Comics delivers on everything you want from a Batman comic!
