Brombal gives Cassandra a thrilling welcome to the event. The nine grid shows a calm night in the city. News on the television speaks otherwise. A quiet dinner with Tenji and Jaya sees Cassandra processing life and crimefighting. The conversation is honest but shows the desire for more. They should have been careful for what they wished for.
Readers watch as the terror strikes fast in the restaurant. The dialogue panics as fear starts taking hold. This also causes the filled room to take notice of Batgirl in their presence, As Batman’s orders come through, the mood shifts to some excitement for Cassandra. Its quickly damped when the attack spreads. The writing stages a brooding aura while Cain fights through. It leads to a shocking action unfolding. Even in at point, Cain’s will doesn’t break. It is only when another situation arises, Cain makes a dangerous choice. This sparks a new path to take in the closing pages. How it plays out will be something to see.

Miyazawa & Spicer’s nine grid open showcases the patrons while the news sees Savage put a bounty out in the open. The dinner with Cass, Tenji and Jaya is lighter in reactions as they feast. Once the attack takes its’ initial phase, the tension is thick as the plants expand in the building. It leads to a striking image of the streets overtaken with panic running wild.
Batman’s orders see Cass show some emotion through the mask as being able to help. While brief, it breaks up the fear flooding the panels. This uneasiness maintains as the art highlights the doubts in resident’s faces. This amplifies more with a loud full shot of a victim of the act. The save comes with a fantastic two page spread. A bold half panel shakes up everything with an unforgivable action. During the melee, sorrow takes over panels as hope slips. This leads to a solid final panel with more mystery behind it. Solid work.
FINAL GRADE: 8.5
As “Bad Seeds” takes hold, Cassandra Cain makes a dangerous attempt to help. Brombal delivers an exceptional look at the hero behind the mask. Miyazawa & Castro craft the terrors with strong art sequences. An exciting adventure begins here!
